All information about Disney Lorcana trading card game
On August 30th, a new trading card game was announced: Disney Lorcana. This new trading card game published by Ravensburger is set around Disney characters. Who wouldn't be excited about that!?
However, ever since the announcement there hasn't been a lot of information about this game yet. So to keep you up to date with all the currently available news, I've created this page. This way, you don't have to go through every spot on the internet to find the latest news about this game. All the latest news about Disney Lorcana will be available on this page. If there is anything missing, then please let me know through the contact form on the about page.
Without further ado, let's get started.
Cards
Cards are the most exciting thing about a card game. It would make the most sense anyway. While we don't know how many cards Disney Lorcana will have, we do have some promo cards that we can take a look at:
While there isn't anything known about what the icons and mechanics behind these cards are, I think there are some good assumptions to be made here.
I think the icon on the top left is the cost of the card. What you'll use to pay for that cost is still unknown.
I also think the two icons on the middle right are power and health. If you look at Captain Hook's ability, you'll see the same symbol to give him +2 of it. I feel like something like that would usually be done with damage. And even though I am not sure about the health next to it, it does look like battles will play a part in this game and it would only make sense to have health in a game like this.
It also seems like there are different types of fighters. Maleficent and Mickey mouse both have a red banner with the same red icon on it. It wouldn't surprise me if we see all the different types here, although it isn't clear what sort of playstyle they have.
We also see two other keywords: Evasive & Exert. Evasive is easy as the cards already explain it: "Evasive: They can challenge characters with Evasive." Makes a lot of sense. The other keyword Exert has a "turn sideways" icon on Elsa. I presume that each card can be turned sideways after battling, so exerting an enemy card will prevent it from attacking.
Magic Inks
The Twitter account for Disney Lorcana has been posting some information about magic inks. Magic ink will be used for summoning Disney characters as glimmers. Essentially the cost of playing your chosen card. There will be 6 different types of magic ink, though we only know about 5 of them so far:
- Amber
- Amethyst
- Sapphire
- Emerald
- Ruby
These symbols all correlate to the symbols found on the card and the color of the card. So Mickey Mouse & Maleficent are both ruby due to their icon and their red color. We don't yet know how this magic ink will be generated.
Release date
It is still too early to know what the exact release date is. Ravensburger has announced that the first set for this game will release in Fall 2023.
And that is all we know so far. This amount of information is expected as the release date is still quite far away. I'll make sure to keep this post up to date with any news that comes out regarding this game.
